We are wives, widows, mothers, foster and stepmothers (who have performed the duties of parent), grandmothers, daughters, granddaughters, foster and stepdaughters who attained that status prior to age 16), sisters, half sisters, foster and stepsisters who attained that status prior to age 16) of persons who were or are eligible for membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States and not less than 16 years old. Membership is open to any eligible woman. Ladies Auxiliaries to Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts throughout Colorado welcome new members to join us to assist with aid to our Veterans and Active Military, support of our communities and youth.
We reach out to touch many people and have a program for all interests. Our programs are:
VETERANS AND FAMILY SUPPORT - for our veterans and active military families
CANCER AID AND RESEARCH - grants for members and donations for research
AMERICANISM - to encourage patriotism in our communities and youth
BUDDY POPPY - since 1922 this little flower has aided our veterans through donations
COMMUNITY SERVICE - any activity which requires our support and participation
HOSPITAL - aid and cheer for our veterans in VA Hospitals and Nursing homes
LEGISLATIVE - to assure that our veterans get and keep deserved entitlements
PATRIOTIC ART AND VOICE OF DEMOCRACY - scholarships for high school age students
VFW NATIONAL HOME FOR CHILDREN - a home for widows and orphans of veterans
FISHER HOUSE - a home away from home when illness requires VA Hospital care
VFW-PAC - special fundraising to support candidates who will support Veterans issues
PATRIOTS PEN - savings bond awards for essays by middle school age students
JUST SAY NO - awards for coloring sheet and posters for students 1st-8th grade
YOUTH ACTIVITIES - events and recognition for young people in our communities
JUNIOR GIRLS - our organization for eligible young girls ages 5-16.
