General Orders #5 - May 2008
1. THE 84th DEPARTMENT CONVENTION will be in Gunnison, Colorado June 18-21, 2008.
Uniforms are required for all line officers and appointed officers at all meetings of the Convention.
2. WEDNESDAY, JUNE 18 Line officers and appointed officers will have Ritualistic (floor work)
and Auxiliary Memorial service practice (time and place to be determined). Joint Memorial Service practice
to follow. There will be a COA meeting at 7:00 PM. Pages will meet with Eileen immediately following the
Council meeting. Uniforms are NOT required for THIS MEETING ONLY.
3. CREDENTIALS for Department Officers, District Presidents and Past Department Presidents
will be mailed directly to them. Convention CREDENTIALS for Auxiliary Presidents and Delegates
will be mailed directly to the Auxiliary President by the Department Secretary. There are no credentials
for Alternate Delegates. It will be necessary for the AUXILIARY PRESIDENT and SECRETARY to sign the
credentials and affix the Auxiliary Seal BEFORE the credentials are given to Delegates.
4. Gwendolyn Rankin, National Conductress will be the National Representative for the Department
Convention.
5. SECOND QUARTER AUDIT covering the months of April, May and June shall be conducted during
the month of July with both the outgoing and incoming Treasurers and Trustees present. A copy of this Audit must
be mailed to the Department Treasurer no later than July 30th. The Audit Report is called for under Reports of
Committees (page 16 of the Ritual) and is the ONLY REPORT accepted by a motion.
6. DEPARTMENT OFFICERS AND CHAIRMEN need to have their typewritten reports to the
Department Secretary, JoAnne Jacobs no later than May 20th. DEPARTMENT CHAIRMEN need to
have their Director year-end Reports to Department President, Eileen Vegoren no later than May 20th.
7. NATIONAL CONVENTION to be held in Orlando, Florida, August 16th-21st. Delegates and Alternates
shall be elected at the last regular meeting in June. One (1) Delegate and one (1) Alternate for each fifty (50) members
or fraction thereof in good standing in the Auxiliary on the date of election of Delegates. The Auxiliary Secretary shall
send the names of the Delegates and Alternates to the National Secretary prior to the National Convention. Auxiliary
elections reports MUST be into National Headquarters before Delegate Credentials can be mailed. The Auxiliary
President will receive the cards. It will be necessary for the Auxiliary President and Secretary to sign the credentials
and affix the Auxiliary Seal before the credentials are given to delegates. Article III, Section 305, page 32.
8. 2007-2008 MEMBERSHIP YEAR does not end until June 30, 2008. All Auxiliaries are urged to
collect New Member Dues, 2008 Dues, Reinstates and 2007 Dues to meet our 100% Membership Goal for 2007-2008
and submit immediately to the Department Treasurer.
